Global Alert: States have been told they have “three years to prepare for World War III due to a specific threat.”
A top general says that the UK only has three years to better prepare its army for battle against a possible danger on the level of World War III from a “axis of upheaval” that includes Russia and China.
The new head of the general staff, General Sir Roly Walker, has sent a strong message that there is “just enough time” to “re-establish” a strong land force that can keep hostile countries from starting a war with the West.

Sir Roly said that the result of the war in Ukraine doesn’t matter when it comes to the danger that Russia will pose after the conflict is over. He called Russia a “very, very dangerous” enemy that is likely out to get the UK for helping Ukraine. The former leader of special forces who had served in Afghanistan stressed how important it was to make Britain’s armed forces more “lethal” so they could fight an enemy that could be three times as big as Britain.
According to The Times, he talked about his worries that the British army, which has about 72,500 people, might have to deal with these threats with old weapons because new vehicles and artillery might not arrive in time. He said at a conference on land warfare put on by the Royal United Services Institute, “We have just enough time… to prepare, act, and assure the re-establishment of credible land forces to support a strategy of deterrence.”
Sir Roly said that the UK isn’t speeding up a “inevitable path to war,” but he stressed that the army’s capabilities “need to be improved urgently.” He said the UK should “apply all strengths as a free-market democracy against the weaknesses of their rigid, autocratic, command economies.”
He thinks the UK has until 2027 or 2028 to improve the army’s skills and wants to make the army twice as ready for battle. A possible attack of Taiwan by China, the general warned, could bring the US and Britain into a third world war.
He also said that China, Iran, and North Korea could help Russia get its weapons back in good shape. He said that by then, Vladimir Putin might be “angry and resentful,” which could “set off” another wave of fighting.

He told the group, “When you think they are down, they [Russia] will come roaring back to get their revenge.” Sir Roly also said that Russia was set on not only taking over Ukrainian land, but also destroying the security system in the Euro-Atlantic area.
This year, General Sir Patrick Sanders, who has been in charge of the British Army since 2022, said that the West had not been this close to war since 1945. Sir Roly’s warning is similar to that. He also said that the UK’s armed services were both underfunded and overworked.
Sir Patrick has warned that a possible Chinese invasion of Taiwan could be very bad for the security of the world. He said that the UK had strong hacking measures, but he also said that other areas, like air defence, were not as strong.
